After some of my websites have been hit by the July 25th update of the Google Algorithm, I decided to submit them to couple of directories.
I prefer submitting to paid directories to free directories, since they really do have more value in Google. Eventhough I was successful in submitting my websites to many directories, I was unable to get my listing up on Joeant.com
I chose “Turkey” category for my Turkish site, since thats most relevant one. Joeant says “Guaranteed review within the next two business days. (One Time Fee – $39.99)“. After I paid using paypal, I waited a full week to get a response from them. I emailed them (I found staff@joeant.com in their Terms of Use page) asking about the status of my submission, but noone wrote back. I even looked up their listed email address in WHOIS search and emailed again, but I still got no answers.
Considering I have submitted two websites, Joeant.com owes me $80s. I will be emailing paypal to refund my money, but I don’t think I’ll get it. $80 is not a lot of money, especially if you are going to get a SCAM review on a blog.
Here is another blogger who got scammed by joeant: Ripoff Report: JoeAnt.com

Thanks for info.

oh and BTW, I interest in advertising in your sidebar as a sponsor 125×125 pixel ads.
I want to know about :
do you use nofollow on the link?
May I add live text link in that space ? I f yes, I will make banner size 125×100 so you can put text link in the bottom
No, I don’t use nofollow on the links, but I prefer the banner only advertising.
The Site you suggested was msneklentisi.com on the evening of the 9th and was declined on the 11th… refunded on the 16th. Emails were sent to feverinlove@gmail.com. Because of the pretext that the site was affiliated/operating with MSN your site was declined and reported. As for a second site, we’ve looked and cannot find any further records of a Fatma Ayse Eksiler making a payment through PayPal. Anyone interested in further proof can contact me at the email above. P.S. JoeAnt.com is a stand-alone directory that does not sell links. Attempting to use JoeAnt.com to artificially inflate your SE placement is not tolerated.
Added. Nice work on this one. Btw, my blog is dofollow, stop by and grab a link. Bompa
Why is it that google allows companies like this to operate? I’ll tell you. There’s no third party verification, no way to directly report sites for abuse, and even further, google lends gravitas to pay sites, because then “at least they know you’re not operating from a shoebox.” Until google comes up with a better verification system, abuses like this will continue to exist, but something tells me they aren’t really very concerned with that right now. Bummer.
Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. I was about to register so you may have saved me $40. Thank you Daniel
