After some of my websites have been hit by the July 25th update of the Google Algorithm, I decided to submit them to couple of directories.
I prefer submitting to paid directories to free directories, since they really do have more value in Google. Eventhough I was successful in submitting my websites to many directories, I was unable to get my listing up on Joeant.com
I love all things automated. If I could do it, I would put my body on automation so that I don’t have to do anything! I guess I am a little lazy. Canliweb.com is one of the sites I bought last year. I paid about 1000 US dollars for it, and the website returned it in just 4 months!
In April, this site made $769.49 and in May, it made $625.69 by itself with Google Adsense. It’s an incredible number considering I don’t have to do anything to keep it going. (maybe link building every now and then)
Meta tags are one of the most important factors affecting the ranking of your site. This is why many bloggers choose to display different keywords for different posts. For example, I am using the AutoMeta plugin by boakes.org. I manually enter what keywords have to be used on each posts in meta keywords tag. However it is important to optimize or at least make some research on what keywords you should put in.
rssHugger is a new RSS directory developed to help bloggers promote their blogs, and to help visitors discover new blogs that write about subjects. It was until yesterday that the rssHugger required a $10 fee to list your site, but now that its changed since the community pressure in JohnChow.com, you can get a free listing by making a post about them. Since I will be getting a listing with this post, I would like to say that the changing of the system is not fair for the ones who have already paid their $10.
In October, I have written about a wordpress hack to make your wordpress insite searches indexable using Search Meter WordPress Plugin. Now its time to put it in test. Cherez.com, one of my everything/nothing entertaining sites in Turkish had the hack for a while, but it was restricted with robots.txt and some wordpress conditional tags. I have now decided to un-restrict it and set it free. Let’s see how much of a traffic boost it will give over time.
Everyone wants higher CTR on their landing pages. This is why some of the forums are filled with people looking for high CTR landing pages, but innovation is at its minimum. People find copying easier and the ones who do not copy and create their own work lead the way. I did my own research and found that using after elements on links resulted in higher CTR ratio throughout my entire money making sites. Now lets move on the part where I teach you how to use CSS :after pseudo-element :)
I was waiting for this update for a long time now. Its been known that google updates its toolbar pagerank value about every three months, but I have to tell you. Those 3 months couldn’t have past slower for me. Reading the rants of people who are getting punished in this update, I have to tell you, they are wrong! Pagerank is there for a reason.
What is Habari? “Habari” is a Swahili word that means “what’s the news?” It’s similar to the English “What’s up?” or the Spanish “¿Qué pasa?” The typical response is “mzuri sana”, which means “very good.” Actually its just a new blogging software in development. I believe Habari has lots of potential as a CMS, but also as a place to find a lot of exploits.
You have probably met some of the spam sites that replicate google searches for lots and lots of google indexed pages. Believe me, they do receive a lot of hits, because pages they serve are very relevant. Indexing searches is a known for good amount of time, but what we are going to do is we will make google index our site-wide searches not google search engine result pages (serps). And at the end, we will be generating a lot of traffic from google.
Looking at the amount of emails I got about the Part 1 and Part 2 of my Blogger Seo Tips, I decided to pay more attention to Blogger. I guess Blogger users really feel left alone, don’t they? On part 1, I helped you guys to optimize your blogger settings before actually setting up your blog, and on part 2, I showed you how to imitate the <!–more–> function in WordPress. On Part 3, we will be removing the Blogger Navigation Bar at the top.
