Search Result Indexing Traffic Test - Update 1

It has been a month since I integrated wordpress search result indexing to Cherez.com, one of my everything/nothing sites. The site currently has only 598 results in the google. 154 of them are from search result indexing. The site can attract more than 3000 uniques due to its highly optimized seo structure eventhough its has a low index count. So, what effect did the wordpress search result indexing have on visitor counts?

Here are the unique visitors counts according the Extreme Counter visible on every page of Cherez.com:

We can actually see a pattern of oscillations in weekly visits forming a sinusoidal shape. One of the reasons could be the fact that Googlebot is actually trying to compare the search result pages to actual content pages and drives different traffic each day. Its still to early to form a proper conclusion.

Like I said in the first of the series, I am going to wait till the index count increases to somewhere around 2000. It should not take long since people do different variety of searches everyday on Cherez.com (which could be very, very nasty)

While checking the logs, I just noticed that two of the single post pages on Cherez.com ranks as number 1 for the search term “britney spears” on google.com.tr. Its above Britney Spears’ wikipedia page and the official site. I think I should congratulate myself for achieving that.

Just got accepted to Review Me

After a long wait, Turkhitbox.com finally got accepted to ReviewMe.com Marketplace. Eventhough they have set a price of $120 for a review according to my Alexa & Tehnorati ranks, I have manually changed the price to $60 for the first couple of months. Here are a couple of reviews that I have done about some large sites:

I have reviewed all these sites in means of their SEO potential, but when you order a review from ReviewMe.com, I will also review your site in terms of design & readability and offer optimization for your xhtml & css code. The reviews will fill the requirements of reviewme.com, but I usually don’t write very long reviews unless the sites need it. I will also be giving ideas and tips to improve your site.

Finally passed the 100 RSS Subscriber Mark

I never thought I would reach it, but I have to say, I worked my ass off to reach it! At first, it was so hard getting the first 20 subscribers. I guess it has something to do with publishing a full feed. Although it pulls me away from my aim of earning 50$/day on this blog, i think it is worth it. However I didn’t do what all the others do!

Shamus just killed me!

Yesterday, I talked to Shamus from Shamuswrites.com for a redesign for his blog for about 10-15 minutes. He doesn’t want a total redesign, but a modification of his own blog’s design which is made by him. So I woke today to check my emails. There were about 30! new emails all from the contact page of Turk Hit Box. I was shocked, because since yesterday, I only received about 10. First of all, I would like to say sorry for not replying to some of the emails since there are a high number of request. I will write back to everyone once I get things in order.

So I checked my logs only to see that my design give-away has been published in weblog tools collection and the author is Shamus himself. I didn’t know he was an author in weblog tools collection at the first place, so it was a bit of shock for me. This shows importance of keeping in touch with other bloggers. On the other hand, he just turned me into a dead person for the next couple of months. I will probably dehydrate and die in front of the computer screen while designing a theme

Don’t worry about it though! I will do my best each and every time. It doesn’t mean I won’t make a design for you if I didn’t send you an email. It just means that its not your turn yet, so please be patient. I would love it if you guys could mention this in your own blogs which will increase the chances of getting a design before others

Pushing for the Blograzzi Frontpage

Blograzzi is the largest Turkish blog directory that you can find. It has recently made a strategical business agreement (Turkish) with Technorati. Turk Hit Box has the number 1 place for the “English category“, but I am planning to get to the front page in a month. That should easily give me some exposure to step up my game among Turkish bloggers. Ranking as 21st, I only need to move 1 place up, and I need you to help me.

As I have said before, all custom wordpress themes will be designed from scratch using Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Do not underestimate the importance of design. A nice looking wordpress theme with functionality can bring additional visitors and rss subscribers. A Web 2.0 feel is important as the content of a website. How will we work?

First of all, I would like you to find me website that you adore and would like your blog to look like one. I will NOT copy the website, its just to give me a basic idea while designing your new & unique wordpress theme. For easier communication, I would like to talk on MSN, so contact me via my Contact page, and I will email you my MSN address. I prefer working step by step:

• A couple of designs on Photoshop if you like the overall feel
• The design will then be coded into xhtml. At this point, all designs will be xhtml and css validated!
• The xhtml file will then be changed into Wordpress Theme Files and the comment styling will be made at this point. I will upload the theme files to a demo site so that you can see the design progress.

What’s the catch?

Well, there’s always a catch. To be eligible for a Free Custom Wordpress Theme, you should meet this criteria:

1. You blog should have at least a Pagerank of 4.
2. Your blog must be older than 8 months.
3. Your rss subscriber count should be more than 50.
4. You cannot remove the footer link, “designed by Turk Hit Box”.

That’s actually nothing comparing to what you get for free. Nowadays, a custom wordpress theme is going for around $199 - $299. Try asking Unique Blog Designs for a complete redesign if you don’t believe me

Blog Income - November

I have talked about my stand at implementing different number of advertisement network in my Blog Income - September & October .

I am not planning to use different advertisement networks like many other make money online blogs, since my purpose is not to make my blog a daily job. Since adsense is stable and trustable, I would like to stict to Adsense all the time.

But I guess this will change since my blog earnings seem to take a downfall.

Using keywords effectively with your posts

Meta tags are one of the most important factors affecting the ranking of your site. This is why many bloggers choose to display different keywords for different posts. For example, I am using the AutoMeta plugin by boakes.org. I manually enter what keywords have to be used on each posts in meta keywords tag. However it is important to optimize or at least make some research on what keywords you should put in.
