Jon Waraas, under JohnChow ’s shadow
Jon Waraas first got my attention, when I visited John Chow. Jon Waraas has a permanent link with no nofollow on the sidebar. Thats definitely a nice accomplishment, but it looks like Jon Waraas is trying to imitate Chow’s footsteps. Following is one thing, but imitating is another. I hope he takes my advices sincerely and make his own path.
First of all, one of the reasons that Waraas is not getting the attention he wants is that his writing style is definitely not grown-up like John Chow’s. This will prevent most of the “serious” bloggers to take him seriously. I suggest a more formal type of writing for Jon. Now let’s get to the SEO part.
Use the more tag: Why would I click your post when I can read it on the main page? Having the comment box on the page the user is reading will most probably increase their chances of writing one.

Post Feeds: If you look at Waraas’ supplemental pages using “site:jonwaraas.com *** -view“, you will see that he has lots of supplemental “post feeds”. You need to block them using the below code:

Disallow: /*/feed/$
Disallow: /*/feed/rss/$
Disallow: /*/trackback/$
Use the Bold and Italic styles: When you look at Jon’s posts, you can see that he never uses bold or italic text. We all know that search engines give more weight to bold text. So, make your keywords in a post bold and get more attention from search engines. It will make your posts look good, too!
Lose the sidebar stuff of Pages: You really don’t need Top Commentators or your wordpress themes on your Advertise page, do you? They lessen the keyword density and make your page longer… You can read my tiny wordpress seo tips to grab the code to do this.
Jon Waraas is still young and I believe he will continue to make money at home, but he needs to change as he gets older to increase his earnings. No, I will not talk about Jon Waraas’ girl friend
