I think I have to find a “rate” of posting for myself. I can’t seem to post regularly and I have to fix that since the blog income is directly affected. When I make a high number of posts in a month, I generate more than I expected. This proves that this blog should be the perfect example for the low income of not-so-hardworking people! However, since the blog is not my main revenue generator, please don’t think I was lying in my “Selling My Audi A3 for an Audi A5” post I wish I was included in the top bloggers’ cars list by David Ptilyuk.

Well, here is how much I made since the blog is up:

At least I bought two more websites, one of which has 15,000 uniques per day! I hope to share the websites in the following days of this month.

Well, first of all, happy new years to all turkhitbox.com readers! It’s been a lovely year with lots of challenges for me and thats the reason I loved it. Especially the fact that this blog continues not to increase its adsense earnings, I guess I will still have a challenge in 2008. At least, I was able to increase the November earnings.

Adsense earnings totaled up to $17,59 without the last day of 2007 since the server was down that day! (What a way to welcome new year eh?). But eventhough this seems like a small increase, it proved some my points:

More ad units = More income

More frequent posting= More income

I could have tripled my earnings last month by selling the ad space on the sidebar, but due to pay pal sucking too much, I could not!

Eventhough this blog does not generate enough income for me, it does not stop me from investing into other websites. That’s why I bought a high-traffic Turkish niche website 2 weeks ago. I am planning on making a post about it, so stay tuned and subscribe to my RSS Feed.

That’s why I can’t accept any sponsorship banners on the sidebar. Eventhough I have emailed them numerous times, they have not approved my documents yet. I will set up a merchant account as soon as possible after they approve my documents. Eventhough Turkhitbox.com has increased its reader count alot, the price for the 125×125 sponsorship buttons will stay the same.

Secondly, as of today, Turkhitbox.com made $13.52 with Google Adsense this month. If I had the chance to accept some of the sponsorship requests, I would have my highest earning month! It’s nice to see that this blog is continueing its growth.

Eventhough they have set a price of $120 for a review according to my Alexa & Tehnorati ranks, I have manually changed the price to $60 for the first couple of months.
I have reviewed all these sites in means of their SEO potential, but when you order a review from ReviewMe.com, I will also review your site in terms of design & readability and offer optimization for your xhtml & css code. The reviews will fill the requirements of reviewme.com, but I usually don’t write very long reviews unless the sites need it. I will also be giving ideas and tips to improve your site.

I have talked about my stand at implementing different number of advertisement network in my Blog Income – September & October .

I am not planning to use different advertisement networks like many other make money online blogs, since my purpose is not to make my blog a daily job. Since adsense is stable and trustable, I would like to stict to Adsense all the time.

But I guess this will change since my blog earnings seem to take a downfall.

But there is always the fact that I have recently changed my blog’s design and can not possibly determine the effects in a short period of time. I have more adsense units with the new design and I am hoping to increase my earnings on the next month. I am thinking of implementing adsense link units, but to me they kill the overall user experience. Whenever I see a blog with a lot of link units, I tend to feel “cold” about it. A blog should not say “I am making money out of you!” rightaway.

I guess I will have to find a way to increase my earning. I believe the current Adsense units are implemented brilliantly . I would love to hear what you guys have to say & I am open for new ideas.

I am seriously considering using Azoogle Ads or Commission Junction, but since a large part of my visitors are outside US, I hight doubt that this will generate a reasonable income. What do you guys think?

I know I haven’t posted my earnings at the end of September, but I don’t make a lot from this blog. I thought I would post my earnings for September and October together. And I just noticed that my blog earnings during summer were posted on the wrong category. Well, I don’t want to change their urls now for SEO purposes. Now, let’s see how much more money I made:

This are not going well if I want to reach my goal at the end of the 1 year period. But considering I have not posted as frequently as I should, these numbers are pretty fair. I made only 7 posts in September and 6 posts in October. These have to go up if I want to increase my earnings. So what do we learn by trial & error? More posts = better.

I also want to change my blog design to something more problogger looking. I hope I can finish the design in a week. The current design do not allow me to place adsense units very well and its narrow for any content I want to add. I would like to add “Top Posts”, “Related Posts” and many other popular widgets. Here is a preview of where I am at on my next theme. Don’t worry about the blue part, thats just to see where the div ends.

I am not planning to use different advertisement networks like many other make money online blogs, since my purpose is not to make my blog a daily job. Since adsense is stable and trustable, I would like to stict to Adsense all the time.

Everyone wants higher CTR on their landing pages. This is why some of the forums are filled with people looking for high CTR landing pages, but innovation is at its minimum. People find copying easier and the ones who do not copy and create their own work lead the way. I did my own research and found that using after elements on links resulted in higher CTR ratio throughout my entire money making sites. Now lets move on the part where I teach you how to use CSS :after pseudo-element

CSS :after and :before pseudo-elements are not used very widely. I have used them in my latest blog theme, Ali Nazik, just to make it stand out. But they are not just eye-candy. If used on a link, a small image can increase your CTR no matter what. In my situation, I got a whooping %20 increase in CTR on my money making websites where I reached my highest earning from the Internet. After a while, its the small things like this that separate you from the crowd.

Here is how to use it:

a:link:after {
content: url(external.gif)
}

This code enters “external.gif” after the link giving the look you can see on the top image. If your image has no whitespace, you may add a whitespace on the content part to have a little space between the link and the image:

a:link:after {
content: ” ” url(external.gif)
}

I highly suggest using of css :after elements on blogs with affiliate links such as John Chow (a little bit overkill), Shoemoney and Courtney Tuttle. I ‘ll add John Cow, just for the fun

I also made a zip file containing 10 small pixel images that you can use with your css :after elements. They are all freeware and some of them are designed by me. They are fairly easy to do. Click the image below to download:

As of today, I will be beginning to incorporate Google Adsense ads on the certain places of this blog to generate some blog income. At the end of every month, I will post detailed information about the expenses I pay to generate traffic and how much money I have made.

I will not be using multiple ad schemes to create a higher volume of income such as Text Link Ads or Azoogle. Even though blogs are used mainly to make some money online, I believe each and every one of them should not be seen as a “money making machines”; they should never lose their intimacy.

I might consider going the ReviewMe way, but seeing larger blogs with high page rank values struggling to get a single review a month, I don’t think it is going to affect this blog’s income.

My first goal is to reach the average of 50 dollars ($50) a day in a year. That makes $1500 a month which seems like a reasonable amount of money to expect from a personal blog updated every now and then. Can I make it? Steve Pavlina says that there is 1% possibility that I reach my blog income goal.

A little shout out to Pavlina:

You are making more than $20000 in a month from your blog. Thats some serious money and I say its time you give back some love to your readers. Use my DoFollow Plugin and at least help some webmasters who have spent time to link to your blog.

Now, back to the topic: I am working on a surprise wordpress function hack to display the ads on certain places, so stay tuned for more updates and get ready to see some adsense banners.
